D Gukesh has made history by defeating Ding Liren in the 14th round of the 2024 FIDE World Chess Championship to become the youngest ever World Chess Champion. In a tense finale, Gukesh capitalized on a blunder from Ding on move 55, taking control of the game and ultimately claiming victory with a final score of 7.5-6.5. After a strong start in the 11th round, Gukesh faced a setback in the 12th but kept his composure throughout the remaining rounds. His victory marks the breaking of Garry Kasparov’s long-standing record. Gukesh’s success was supported by his dedicated team, including Paddy Upton, Grzegorz Gajewski, and Pentala Harikrishna, who helped him prepare mentally and physically for the challenge.
