Welcome to the live coverage of the Indian Super League 2024-25. Tonight Mohammedan SC are up against Bengaluru FC.

Mohammedan SC are second from bottom in the table and Bengaluru FC are at second spot from top, right on the other side of standings. Bengaluru have won five, drawn twice and lost just once this season while Mohammedan SC have won just a single game and lost four alongside drawing two matches.

Problems aplenty for Mohammedan SC:

• Search for Home Win: Mohammedan SC have drawn once and lost thrice in their opening four clashes at home this season. No team has gone through the first five matches in their backyard without a win, a record that Andrey Chernyshov and his men will want to steer clear from, come Wednesday. They can take heart and confidence from the fact that Bengaluru FC’s only defeat this season came in an away game, which was against FC Goa.

• Sluggish Start: Mohammedan SC also tend to take some time to settle into the proceedings, since they have given away four goals in the opening 15 minutes of matches in ISL 2024-25. It is the highest by any team this season and they have to hold their ground early on since Bengaluru FC have also netted four times in this phase of the current campaign.

Bengaluru FC in good form:

• Points Galore: A victory in this matchup will mark only the second time (besides 23 points in 2018-19) that the Blues would bag 20+ points after their first nine games of an ISL season. The team has functioned as a cohesive unit under Gerard Zaragoza this term, scoring 13 goals and conceding only six, to maintain a fine stronghold over most matches.

• Need for Better Record against Debutants: Bengaluru FC have drawn and lost twice in their last five clashes when they have faced a team for the first time in the ISL. With this being the inaugural meeting between the two sides in the league, the Blues will hope to set this streak straight in their favour.

8' First goal for Mohammedan SC!!!

Wow! What a header. Brilliant delivery from Mirjalol Kasimov via a corner and César Manzoki gets rid of his marker and jumps to get one hell of a contact to head the ball into the bottom right corner and Bengaluru goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu can just watch it going into his goal. Mohammedan SC take an early surprise lead.

13' Alberto Noguera has been booked. A silly foul there from Alberto Noguera who has just kicked the ball before the Mohammedan player could start his free kick.

20' First significant attack from Bengaluru FC and it Jorge Pereyra Díaz who takes a shot from a very long range. However, it is totally off target. Too high.

26' Another long range attack from Bengaluru but yet again the Mohammedan SC goalkeeper Roy is not troubled at all as the ball slides to the left of him. Jorge Pereyra Díaz was yet again the shooter but off-target again.

30' Drinks break! It has been a slightly slowish start from both the sides so far. Mohammedan have got a goal via a corner but mostly the attacks from both teams have not looked as threatening.

43' Bengaluru FC are asking for a handball inside the box but the referee has not seen it and he has not given it at this point.

Some discussions going on. Replays show it is indeed a handball. It should have been a penalty but the play carries on. A big moment in the game.

45+1' Six minutes of added time before the half-time is called. Bengaluru continue to dominate possession but Mohammedan have the lead.

45+6' Beatufiul movement from Jorge Pereyra Díaz inside the box to create space for himself and he takes a shot but an important deflection for Mohammedan SC helps them stay in lead.

And the half-time whistle comes.

Half-time whistle sounds and it is Manzoki's first goal in ISL that keeps Mohammedan SC ahead against Bengaluru FC in the first 45 minutes. Things can change in quick time. Do join us for the second half.

Second half begins and Bengaluru need an equaliser to avoid what would be a really surprising defeat. Mohammedan SC are aiming their second win of season but there is still a lot of time.

52' Sunil Chhetri comes on for Md Salah. Bengaluru are desparate to level scores and they would hope Chhetri comes off as a super sub.

54' A bit of a heated argument between Poojary and Manzoki. The referee comes in at the right time to cool things down. Poojary is not liking the physical style of play of Mohammedan SC players and he was really frustrated this time.

61' Sana Singh with a block that saves Bengaluru FC. Lalremsanga Fanai covered a lot of ground from the right flank and came running into the box. Wrong foots one defender to take a shot but Singh comes in at the right time to avert the danger.

65' Sunil Chhetri with a beautiful free kick from outside the box. He beats the four-man wall but can not beat the goalkeeper Bhaskar Roy who dives to his right and dodges away the ball.

67' Chhetri with another shot. This time from outside the box. He has beaten all the defenders with his run and decides to go from long range and all along the ground but Bhaskar Roy stands tall. He makes another good save and Bengaluru are denied once again.

76' Gurpreet to the rescue! Brilliant save. Lalremsanga Fanai comes up with a brilliant pass to switch flanks to the left and Alexis Gomes gets the ball at the edge of the box and gets inside. Shoots it all along the ground aiming the bottom right corner. But Gurpreet dives on the ground to get the slightest of touches to avoid the danger.

77' Another big save from Gurpreet! Yet another shot from Alexis and yet another save from the Indian goalkeeper. This time Alexis shoots a dipping ball from outside the box but Gurpreet is up to the task and collects the dipping delivery.

80' Bhaskar Roy makes a brilliant save and concedes a corner and now it is a penalty awarded to Bengaluru FC! Big Big Moment in the game. César Manzoki with a foul in the box and Chhetri to take the penalty.

82' First goal for Bengaluru FC!!!

Sunil Chhetri comes up with the equaliser from the spot. Absolute laser guided placement from the veteran. He goes to the bottom left corner and even as Bhaskar Roy jumps in the right direction, Chhetri manages to beat him with his precision.

86' Manzoki comes up with another super header and this time he hits the post! That is as unlucky as it gets. What a leap on the left side in the six-yard box to a brilliant Lalremsanga Fanai cross. But Manzoki just smashes the near post.

90+2' Manzoki with another header for Mohammedan SC but this time it is above the target and does not test Gurpreet in Bengaluru goal.

90+8' Second goal for Bengaluru FC!!!

What a screamer by Sunil Chhetri and he shows why he is great man that he is. He has snatched three points for Bengaluru out of no where. Exceptional from the Indian veteran. Lalremtluanga Fanai with a cross into the box and Chhetri rises high to get a header. It is deflected a bit by Florent Ogier's shoulder and sneaks into the goalpost.

Bengaluru have won in an exceptional manner.

Full-time whistle sounded! Bengaluru FC beat Mohammedan SC 2-1.

Bengaluru FC owner Parth Jindal is absolutely happy.

What a thriller to close matchweek 9 of the Indian Super League. Mohammedan SC had taken an early lead via a super header from César Manzoki. Bengaluru FC and Mohammedan SC then had a good back and forth encounter with the defence of both sides keeping the other at bay. Finally substitute Sunil Chhetri scored the equaliser in 82nd minute from the penalty spot and just when it seemed that we were headed for a draw, the veteran once again brought out his magic. A header from Chhetri moments before the final whitle was deflected by Mohammedan defender and Bengaluru found their second goal and with that three points.

Bengaluru go to the top of standings with a three point lead over Mohun Bagan. The Blues have played an extra match though. Mohammedan have been handed their fifth loss of season and stay at the second from bottom spot.
