IPL 2023: Shubman Gill Outplays Virat Kohli On A Day Of Consecutive Centuries
Shubman Gill scored 104 off 52 balls, an inning that comprised 5 fours and 8 sixes, to rain on RCB's parade, knocking them out of the tournament.
Opting to bat first, Virat Kohli scored his consecutive century, this time off 60 balls, to power RCB to 197-5. RCB needed the win in order to qualify for the play-offs since Mumbai Indians had already won their match earlier in the day.
Gill, however, had other plans, as he, too, smashed his consecutive hundred off 52 balls. With 6 runs needed from as many balls, Gill hit an areal shot over mid on to see GT home by six wickets.
Virat Kohli had earlier spoke about getting back into rhythm with the ICC World Test Championship just two weeks away. But Shuibman Gill is in a league of his own, as he has slammed multiple centuries across different formats making 2023 a year to remember for him.
With the play-offs spots sealed, Gujarat Titans will take on Chennai Super Kings in the First Qualifier in Chennai on 23rd May, followed by Lucknow Super Giants Vs Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on 24th May. The Second Qualifier will be played on 26th May, with the all-important final in Ahmedabad on 28th May.
