The hosts have revealed their playing XI ahead of the 2nd Test against India in the pink ball match at the Adelaide Oval.

India skipper Rohit Sharma on Thursday said that one will need to devise his own methods to deal with the challenges posed by the pink Kookaburra ball during the day/night Test against Australia as it would do a bit more than the traditional red cherry.

"I think it's just about getting used to the pace of the ball more than anything else. You are so used to playing with red ball, and pink ball certainly does a little bit more than the red ball," Rohit told reporters on the eve of the Test at the Adelaide Oval.

The India vs Australia 2nd Test match will start at 9:30 AM India Time (IST) with toss taking place at 9:00 AM IST on December 6, Friday.

India have won the toss and have opted to bat first in the Pink Ball Test match in Adelaide.

Indian opener batter KL Rahul is taking his time to score but Shubamn Gill has hit four boundaries so far out of which the first two came in the first over. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are bowling in the right areas and making it difficult for the Indian batters to score.

KL Rahul was yet to open his run account when Scott Boland was introduced in the 8th over. He bowled the first delivery a no-ball on which KL Rahul thought that he knicked it and was walking off. He soon scored his first runs in the match. Then he was dropped by Usman Khawaja on the last delivery of the over.

The duo has added 67 runs for the second wicket partnership. After Jaiswal's dismissal on the very first delivery, Shubman Gill played positive cricket and added quick runs but KL Rahul took his time and has now changed the gears. Australia also introduced spin in the 18th over with Nathan Lyon but they seemed desperate for another wicket. But nothing have worked so far.

KL Rahul's luck ran out as Nathan McSweeney took a fine diving catch in the gully to dismiss the Indian opener. Rahul went back after making 37 runs. The ball's shine has gone comparative of what we saw in the first couple of overs. Virat Kohli has joined Shubman Gill at the crease.

Virat Kohli also gave his wicket to Mitchell Starc when he got double-minded of whether to play the ball or leave the ball. He reacted late and the ball took an edge and went straight to Steve Smith in the slips. Rishabh Pant is the new batter at the crease and he opened his account with a boundary.

Shubman Gill got out just before the end of the first session of the Pink Ball Test match in Adelaide. Scott Boland got him LBW out and forced Indian captain Rohit Sharma to come out to bat just 11 balls before the Tea break. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are unbeaten at the crease and will resume their batting after the break.

Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first ball of the day to give a flying start. KL Rahul, after a shaky start, scored some runs and added 69 runs for the second wicket. Shubman Gill also supported him and managed to find some gaps. Starc dismissed Rahul to break the partnership then got Virat Kohli caught in the slips. Scott Boland dismissed Shubman Gill just before the Tea break. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are unbeaten and will resume batting after the break.

Scott Boland started with the first over after Tea break and Rishabh Pant took a single on the first ball which was a leg bye. Rohit Sharma played out the next five ball taking single on the last delivery towards the backward point region.

Scott Boland does the trick. He got rid of the Indian captain after dismissing his LBW out. Rohit went back to the pavilion after making 3 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy joined Rishabh Pant at the crease.

India crossed 100-run mark in the Pink Ball Test match in the 31st over. Nitish Kumar Reddy hit a glorious shot in Pat Cummins' over to complete 100 runs for India in the match.

Pat Cummins got his first wicket in this Pink Ball Test match when he dismissed Rishabh Pant for 21 runs. His extra pace got the better of Pant as Marnus Labuschagne took a fine catch. Ravichandran Ashwin and Nitish Kumar Reddy are taking the game forward.

Mitchell Starc completed his five-wicket haul when he came to bowl his 12th over and dismissed Ravichandran Ashwin on the second delivery and bowled Harshit Rana on the last delivery. Nitish Kumar Reddy is still unbeaten and looking good.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has shifted gears and has smashed some glorious sixes. He hit over covers for a six to Mitchell Starc then switch hit Boland for another six. Starc hit him on the helmet and concussion checks happened. NKR restarted soon.

Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja came to open the batting for Australia. Jasprit Bumrah opened the bowling attack of India and conceded just four runs as Khawaja played a glorious shot to open the hosts' inning. Mohammed Siraj bowled a maiden over to start his spell.

Jasprit Bumrah started to celebrate when he got Nathan McSweeney knick a delivery which remained straight. The ball was going straight to Rohit Sharma is slips but Rishabh Pant got in the way as dropped that.

Jasprit Bumrah continued his attack from one end and finally got his first wicket of the match. Rohit Sharma took a fine catch in the first slip. Jasprit was pumped and celebrated the wicket on his birthday. Marnus Labuschagne is the new batter at the crease. Bumrah also completed his 50 wickets in a calendar year.

Harshit Rana came to bowl the 18th over but lights kept going during his over. There was some technical issue and soon it was resolved and Rana completed his over. India still looking for another wicket. Meanwhile Marnus Labuschagne opened his account with a double and soon hit a boundary to add four more runs in front of his name.

Marnus Labuschagne stood staright from his stance when Mohammed Siraj was taking his run-up and was about to jump for the bowling. A fan came in front of the side screen and was passing by with a big minaret of cups. But, Siraj couln't saw that and threw the ball in frustration towards Labuschagne. He later realized his mistake.

Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne played out the fierce and accurate bowling of the Indian bowlers to deny them any further wicket after Usman Khawaja's dismissal.

The first day of the Pink Ball Test match ended in Australia's favour.
