Heavy rain in Delhi on Sunday led to traffic snarls in several areas as Delhiites reported 47 incidents of waterlogging across the city. Safdarjung, the city's primary weather station, recorded 26.3 mm of rain, while Lodi Road recorded 30.4 mm, Palam 20.4 mm and Mayur Vihar 55.5 mm between 2.30 and 5.30, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data.
Delhi was on 'orange' alert on Sunday, which signifies 'being prepared' for extremely bad weather and potential disruptions to transport, rail and road.
Central, south, southwest and east Delhi received heavy rainfall. The weather department has predicted more showers in the Delhi-NCR areas towards the end of the day. A PWD official said they received 40 calls regarding waterlogging and three calls about fallen trees.

Rajasthan Rains: 2nd Straight Day Of Downpour Kills 16
Rajasthan seemed to be the worst hit in the weekend rains as the state reported 16 deaths over two days -- two on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Its Karauli district recorded "exceptionally heavy rainfall" of 38 cm.
The India Meteorological Department said in a Sunday evening bulletin that "exceptionally heavy rainfall" was observed over Rajasthan's Karauli (38cm), heavy to very heavy rainfall was observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar too.
Officials in Rajasthan's Jaipur said the torrential rains created a flood-like situation in Karauli and Hinduan. Jaipur saw waterlogging at several places. Five people were swept away at the Kanota Dam in Jaipur and a rescue operation has been launched.
"Safety of all citizens of Rajasthan - our top priority. Today, a meeting of the officials was held in the Chief Minister's Office regarding the heavy rains in the state and necessary guidelines were given to strengthen all the arrangements related to disaster management immediately," Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma posted on X.
Till 5.30 pm on Sunday, Jaipur recorded 63.2 mm rainfall, Alwar 14.2, Mount Abu and Sikar 9 mm each and Fatehpur 6.5 mm.

Uttarakhand Rains: 10-Year-Old Child Swept Away In Gaula River In Nainital
Two people, including a child, were washed away in rivers swollen by heavy rains in Uttarakhand on Sunday. A massive landslide at Bhimbali in Rudraprayag stopped the flow of the Mandakini River briefly, officials said.
In Nainital district, a 10-year-old child was swept away in the Gaula River in the Rajpura area of Haldwani at around 1 pm, the State Emergency Operations Centre said.
In another incident, a person was swept away in the Ganga River at Lakadghat Shyampur in Rishikesh, according to news agency PTI.

Himachal Pradesh: 3 Die In Flashflood, 288 Roads Shut Amid Heavy Rains
Two girls and an 18-year-old woman died while a person went missing after being washed away in a flash flood in Una on Sunday as heavy rains wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh leading to the closure of 288 roads over the past two days.
Water from overflowing streams entered several houses in Una while the Lahaul and Spiti police issued an advisory for locals and travellers to exercise extreme caution and not to cross the Jahalman Nallah as its water level is "rapidly" rising, officials said.
According to officials cited in a news agency PTI report, two girls aged four and seven, and an 18-year-old woman died in the flashflood in Una district's Haroli Tehsil while a search is on to trace the missing person.
Karnatak News: Flood Alert In Pampa Sagar Dam In Koppal
A flood alert has been sounded in the downstream of Pampa Sagar dam on Tungabhadra river here in Koppal after the chain of the 19th crust gate broke, leading to the release of huge amount of water.
Sources in the water resource department cited by news agency PTI said that they would require to empty the reservoir from the existing capacity of 105 TMC to 65 to 55 TMC to carry out repair work.
The water resource department has opened all the crust gates barring five to take up repair work on an urgent basis.

One carriageway of Ashoka Road will remain closed for traffic till September 10 due to the repair work of sewer barrel, according to a Delhi Traffic Police advisory. Due to the repair work of sewer barrel by the NDMC, one carriageway of Ashoka Road from Jaswant Singh roundabout to Windsor Place roundabout will be closed for traffic from August 12 to September 10, the advisory stated.
There will be one-way traffic movement on Ashoka Road from Windsor Place towards Jaswant Singh roundabout, it said.
The commuters going towards Windsor Place from C-Hexagon India Gate are advised to use Kasturba Gandhi Marg and will reach Windsor Place via Firoz Shah traffic signal, the advisory added.
Delhi Weather Today: Minimum Temp At 24.8 Degrees Celsius; AQI At Satisfactory Level?
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 24.8 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity was recorded at 100 per cent at 8:30 am. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to go up to 32 degrees Celsius.
The air quality index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the "satisfactory" category with a reading of 53 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".

Wayanad Landslides News: Special Camp To Retrieve Official Documents Of Survivors
A special camp to retrieve official documents of the landslide survivors who lost everything was launched on Monday in the disaster-hit regions of Wayanad, where a search mission to locate missing people continued.
The camps are being held in select schools in Meppadi here as part of the certificate/document retrieval campaign jointly carried out by the Local Self Government department, district administration and the state IT Mission.
Arrangements are being made at the camps for the landslide survivors, who are either staying in camps or other places, to come and retrieve their lost documents or certificate, District Collector said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Rajasthan Weather Forecast: Monsoon To Remain Active In Eastern Rajasthan?
The Meteorological Department said there is a strong possibility of monsoon remaining active in many parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Kota divisions of eastern Rajasthan for the next four-five days and heavy to very heavy rains at some places. There also is a strong possibility of moderate and heavy rains in most parts of the Bikaner division of western Rajasthan for the next three-four days.
From June 1 to Aug 12, Rajasthan has recorded 40 per cent more rainfall than the normal. The normal rainfall recorded during the corresponding period in the state is 283.9 mm, which has been 397.8 mm this year. Western Rajasthan has recorded 56 per cent more rainfall than the normal, whereas eastern Rajasthan recorded 31 per cent more rainfall, According to MeT department data.

Parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday were inundated, leaving commuters stranded on roads, after heavy rains. In Haryana's Yamunanagar district, several villages were flooded as the water level in the Som river rose due to the rain.
Chandigarh, Mohali, Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar and Ambala were among the places that received rainfall. Several areas in Ambala, Ludhiana, Mohali and Gurugram witnessed waterlogging.
In Punjab, Rupnagar received 64 mm of rainfall, Patiala 62 mm, Ludhiana 57 mm, Mohali 32 mm, Faridkot 6.5 mm, Ferozepur 5 mm, and Pathankot and Amritsar 2 mm each, according to a news agency PTI report.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded 82 mm of rainfall, Gurugram 77 mm, Kurukshetra 40.5 mm, Kaithal 33 mm, Rohtak 10 mm, Narnaul 7 mm and Hisar 6.7 mm.
Punjab R'ains News: NDRF Deployed In Hoshiarpur
In Punjab's Hoshiarpur, nine people including eight members of a family died and two others went missing after their vehicle got swept away on Sunday by the flooded Jaijon Choe, a seasonal rivulet.
Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed.
Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Lamba said nine bodies, including those of five females, have been recovered from the rivulet.
