Delhi Records Lowest Temperature Of The Season At 1.4 Degree As Coldwave Grips Northern Plains

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Monday dropped to 1.4 degrees with the national capital recording its lowest this season. On Sunday, the city recorded a temperature of 4.7 degrees Celcius.

Frosty winds whipped the plains of north and northwest India on Sunday, bringing minimum temperatures down to the range of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in many areas. It is going to turn even colder until western disturbances provide some relief starting Thursday.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert as Delhi-NCR is set to experience severe cold-wave-like conditions starting Monday. The national capital will witness dense fog conditions for the next three days.

A severe cold wave is likely to grip parts of northern India including the Delhi & National Capital Region till Wednesday, said the IMD on Sunday, January 15. According to the IMD, the temperature in Delhi-NCR may be around?2 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.

As many as 13 trains were running late in the Northern Railway region due to fog on Monday morning, said the Indian Railways.
