In a decisive move, a gathering of newly-elected Congress MLAs in Telangana on Monday resolved to delegate the authority to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge for the appointment of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.

With 64 seats in the 119-seat assembly, Congress leaders met Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday, asserting their claim to form the state government.
Following the CLP meeting, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar informed reporters, "All the members of the newly-elected Congress party unanimously resolved to authorize AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to appoint a Congress Legislative Party leader."
This pivotal decision will be communicated to Kharge, with the MLAs expressing their commitment to follow the guidance of the party's top leadership, as detailed by Shivakumar, who serves as one of the AICC observers tasked with coordinating the CLP meetings.
PCC president A Revanth Reddy spearheaded the resolution, receiving support from notable senior MLAs such as Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and D Sridhar Babu, as disclosed by Shivakumar.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar told ANI, "Today we had a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party of the newly elected members of the party. We thank the people of the state for allowing us to form our govt here...All the members of the newly elected Congress party unanimously resolved to authorise Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to appoint the Congress legislature party leader. All have decided that whatever the high command decides, we will go by that..."
