Rain Brings Respite From Scorching Heat In Delhi, NCR Parts

The heavy rain on Saturday morning brought mercury down several notches in the national capital-Delhi, bringing respite from persistent hot and humid conditions.

The rain lashed several parts of national capital Delhi and the National Capital Region(NCR) on Saturday bringing some respite from the scorching heat.?

The parts of Delhi and NCR including Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad received heavy drizzle today morning bring relief from persistent humid conditions.

The local MeT office in New Delhi has predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain, as well as heavy intensity rain, were forecasted for isolated areas, along with gusty winds at a speed of 30-50 km/hour in several places of Delhi, including Kanjhawala, Delhi University, and Punjabi Bagh.

Earlier, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted thundershowers for Saturday, which are expected to reduce to a light drizzle over the weekend.

The reports on social media showed the showing drenching the revamped Central Vista Avenue (now Kartavya Path).

IMD had stated the predominant surface wind in Delhi is likely to come from the West, with a speed of 12-20 kmph, along with a cloudy sky and the possibility of drizzles.

On Saturday morning, the air quality in Delhi's Anand Vihar area was categorised as "very poor." However, the overall air quality index (AQI) in Delhi is forecast to be satisfactory over the weekend.

On Friday, the average AQI in Delhi was recorded at 148 (moderate) at 10 am, and on Thursday, it was 131 (moderate) at 4 pm.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies AQI levels as follows: 'good' for an index between 0-50, 'satisfactory' for 51-100, 'moderate' for 101-200, 'poor' for 201-300, 'very poor' for 301-400, and 'severe' for anything above 400.
