Cyclone Biparjoy is predicted to cross Saurashtra and Kutch coasts near Jakhau Port on the evening of June 15 where it is likely to make landfall as a 'very severe cyclonic storm' with a maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph. Arrangements have been made for rations and meals while an action plan is being finalised to tackle medical emergencies, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said. Meanwhile, over 21,000 people have been evacuated so far from?coastal areas of the?western state, according to the officials.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Cyclone Biparjoy may have extensive damaging potential in the coastal areas of Gujarat in Kutch and Saurashtra districts.
Although Biparjoy weakened from ‘extremely severe’ to a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’, the India Meteorological Department on Tuesday warned of an extensive damaging potential. The cyclone is likely to severely impact Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Jamnagar districts of Gujarat.
