Delhi Police Registers Case Over Attack On Indian High Commission In London
In a protest by Khalistan supporters at High Commission of India in London, a protestor on Sunday climbed the mission's balcony and pulled down the Indian flag
It was done after the Ministry of Home Affairs directed the Delhi Police to take appropriate legal action on the receipt of a report from the Ministry of External Affairs over the incident at the Indian High Commission March 19.?During the protest in London, a protestor on Sunday climbed the mission's balcony and pulled down the Indian flag.
In a video of the incident, a man is seen on the balcony bringing down the Indian flag. Towards the end of the video, a man believed to be an Indian official comes to the balcony from inside the mission and snatches the flag before the protestor could do any further vandalism.
Similar protests and vandalism were also seen at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, prompting sharp condemnation from Indian Americans who demanded immediate action against those responsible for it.
Notably, several accounts of pro-Khalistani leaders have been blocked in India following protests over the crackdown against separatist leader Amritpal Singh.
Accounts including that of Canada's New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh, Canadian poet Rupi Kaur, the voluntary organisation United Sikhs, and Canada-based activist Gurdeep Singh Sahota have been blocked.
Following the vandalism, officials from the Indian mission said the "attempted but failed" attack was foiled and the tricolour was now flying "grander".?In what was seen as a retaliation to the protests, barricades outside the UK High Commission in Delhi were missing on Wednesday morning.?
