The reports said mobile internet will be barred till Sunday and comes just days after Chief Minister N Biren Singh's government lifted an earlier ban due to ethnic violence in the north-eastern state.
Earlier, Singh had announced the restoration of mobile internet services in the state, following their suspension in the aftermath of ethnic violence that erupted on May 3.
In a presser, Singh also advocated for the reconsideration of the free movement regime, which currently permits residents living in close proximity to the India-Myanmar border to traverse 16 kilometers into each other's territories without any formal documentation.
Singh had elaborated on the initial suspension of mobile internet services, stating it was a measure taken to combat the dissemination of fake news, propaganda, and hate speech during a period of heightened tension.?
Additionally, Singh had emphasized the government's commitment to addressing concerns related to "illegal immigrants" and underscored the necessity of securing the India-Myanmar border through fencing measures.
