India enjoyed a brilliant Day 2 at the Commonwealth Games 2022 where the country bagged four medals including a gold – all in weightlifting. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (gold), Sanket Mahadev Sargar and Bindyarani Devi (both silver) and Gururaja Poojary (bronze) stood on the podium. And the medal rush continued on Day 3 with two young lifters, Jeremy Lalrinnunga (men’s 67 kg) and Achinta Sheuli (men's 73 kg), winning gold medals on their Games debuts. In team sports, India women's cricket team defeated Pakistan in the must-win group game by eight wickets. It was followed by the?men’s hockey team's thumping 11-0 win?over Ghana in their opener. In badminton, the Indian team booked?a semi-final spot with a win over South Africa. The men’s table tennis team also confirmed a last-four place with a facile win over Bangladesh. Earlier in the day, boxing star?Nikhat Zareen?won her first bout, but Shiva Thapa lost a tight match.
