He elaborates on the preferred fertility preservation techniques, such as cryopreservation of a woman's egg or the man's sperm, implying they can be used when they wish to become parents. On similar lines, embryos or fertilized eggs are preserved for future use. Under exceptional circumstances, either of the partners could be facing challenges in conceiving due to health issues, cancer treatments or a decline in fertility due to advanced age.

Embryo cryopreservation is possible for couples undergoing IVF cycles and wishing to preserve surplus fertilized eggs if they want to get pregnant later. Embryo cryopreservation improves their chance of getting pregnant without undergoing ovarian stimulation or egg retrieval.

Ovarian tissue freezing, as the name suggests, is for women likely to experience no or poor ovarian function due to health complications or cancer treatments. Doctors recommend ovarian tissue freezing before commencing the cancer treatment. It involves surgical removal of the ovarian tissue and freezing it for transplantation or re-implantation in the future. Hence, women who wish to preserve their ovarian function or cannot keep hope for egg retrieval opt for ovarian tissue freezing.

The IVF specialists and patients first need to ascertain the suitability of these procedures. Also, they need to consider the patient's age, health and other factors conducive to fertility, pregnancy and parenthood when going ahead with any of them.
