Earlier this month, Taraji P. Henson was in the news when she spoke up about being underpaid in Hollywood as a Black actor. This time she has made a revelation. She revealed that she had fired her whole team when they failed to capitalize on the success she received after her role in ‘Empire.’

Speaking with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the actor mentioned that firing her team was the smartest decision she made in Hollywood. She mentioned that after fans started loving her as Cookie Lyon in ‘Empire’ she had thought that her team would be ready to capitalize on this success after the show ended. She said, “Where is my deal? Where's my commercial? Cookie was at the top of the fashion game. Where is my endorsement? What did you have set up for after this? That's why you all haven’t seen me in so long. They had nothing set up.”

Taraji P. Henson revealed that her team had thought of having a Cookie centric spinoff after ‘Empire’ ended. She mentioned that she was open to the idea if only it was executed well. But her team was unable to get it “right”. That is when she decided to fire them.

She added, “All they wanted was another Cookie show, and I said, 'I'll do it, but it has to be right. The people deserve- she’s too beloved for y'all to f**k it up.' And so, when they didn’t get it right, I was like, 'Well, that’s it,' and they had nothing else. 'You're all f**kin’ fired’.”

The actress was last seen in ‘The Color Purple’ where she played the role of Shug Avery. Her fans were delighted to see her in this musical drama.
