Ever since its release in September 2023, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Jawan' is still being talked about. The film, which saw many supporting roles, including that played by Sanya Malhotra, is still celebrating its success. After earning more than Rs 1000 crores at worldwide box office collections, 'Jawan' is gearing up for its OTT release on Zee Cinema.
Sanya Malhotra Reflects On Her Experience Of Working With Shah Rukh Khan In 'Jawan': He Left Me In Awe
Sanya Malhotra is a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. After getting to work with him in 'Jawan,' it seems like the actress is still basking in the record-breaking success of the film.
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Sanya Malhotra shed light on her role in the action-thriller film, which also marks her first pan-India commercial action film. For those unversed, and to brush up the memory of those who would have forgotten, the actress portrayed the role of Eram, who is a doctor, and joins Khan's character's group of women who help him correct the wrong-doings in the society.
When asked about what it was like sharing the screen space with the King Khan, she said it was a "surreal" experience. However, she was clear that she had to keep her focus on what she could learn from him. She further said, "When I got this opportunity, it’s something I could never have said no to because I’m a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. To get to work with him, to be around him, to see him work – why would I say no to it even in my dreams? All I did was observe him. I would look at the way he conducts himself and trust me, he left me in awe every time. I now understand why people love him so much."
With the cast of the film mostly being women, that too in power positions, she reflected on how the experience was different. She emphasized, "In Indian cinema, we often see powerful films centered around male heroes championing women’s causes. 'Jawan' breaks this mould. Shah Rukh Khan brings together five fierce women, amongst many others, recognises their strengths, their pain, and they together go on a mission that is larger than you, me or anything."
Further, she heaped praise on how SRK treats women. "On set, Shah Rukh Khan would always stand up to greet a female co-star or technician. He treated us as equals. All of this is reflected in the kind of films he does, and how women are portrayed in his movies," she concluded.
'Jawan' will premiere on January 28 on Zee Cinema at 8 PM.
