Miss Asia 2015 Kanikka Kapur is all set to star as a parallel lead in Avnish Barjatya's upcoming film 'Dono' starring Rajveer Deol and Paloma Dhillon as leads.?Earlier, she played the lead in the Telugu film 'Tippu' and the indie film 'Sifar: A Gift Of Love' which won several accolades at international film festivals. Not just films. She is also known for her impressive work on TV as a lead in 'Ek Duje Ke Vaaste 2'. Her OTT work includes projects like 'TVF Immature Season 2'.?

'Dono' is releasing on October 5?in theatres and ahead of its release, Garima Das of Outlook India had a conversation with Kanikka where she spoke at length about her journey, being part of Rajshri Productions and a lot more. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

How does it feel to be part of the Rajshri legacy as a heroine? Is it a surreal experience? Can you share your journey in getting the role in 'Dono'?

Being a Rajshri heroine is a truly remarkable experience! Rajshri Films has always been associated with grace and charm in their heroines, and their content carries deep family values and traditions. To find myself on that list of Rajshri heroines is a blessing, and it's like a dream come true. Describing this feeling is almost impossible in words.

Did you have the chance to meet Sooraj Barjatya on set? Could you tell us about your experience?

On the first day of shooting, we were working on a wedding song sequence in an elaborate set. Since I portray a bride in the film, I was dressed in a heavy lehenga and heading towards the set when I saw Sooraj sir. His presence is truly captivating, and it's challenging to express in words how he carries himself. Even before I could muster the courage to approach him, he came over and introduced himself. He exudes humility and respect, and I hope to embrace those qualities in my life.

Did Sooraj Barjatya provide you with any acting guidance or offer compliments after reviewing the film's footage?

After each shot, I would seek feedback from Sooraj sir, and if something needed improvement, he would gently guide me on how to do it better. He shared valuable advice, such as not looking at the monitor screen after a take because he emphasized the importance of trusting the director. He also encouraged me to come to the set with an open mind, leaving personal issues behind.

What is your personal favourite Rajshri film?

While I appreciate films like 'Uunchai'?and 'Vivaah', 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' holds a special place in my heart as my all-time favourite Rajshri film.
