Aniruddh Dave says that the audience craves realistic content now and violence and brutality are part of that. He adds that if something needs to be shown in a realistic way, then all details must be depicted.

“When you talk about violence and brutality being shown on screen, this has been going on for years. People want to see realistic content and so it’s not wrong to show violence because this is what happens in real life as well. So, it depends on the audience and how dark they would want to see their content. Everyone has their own interpretations and choices and I believe that when you see a negative character, or you’ve lived that negative phase, then this will definitely affect you. I feel that cinema is a medium that is a chosen bitter truth. Sometimes things come out in an entertainment way or fiction way or emotionally. But at the end it’s always, ‘Jo dikh raha hai woh bik raha hai’,” he says.

However, one must know what one is signing up for when one decides to watch something, he says, adding, “Today, people have started believing in what’s the truth and, yes, maybe it feels bitter, but the fact is true that it disturbs people also. If these topics are mixed with entertainment, it will definitely disturb you, after a point but it depends on you how you take it. If today people have liked ‘The Kashmir Files’ or ‘The Kerala Story’, it is all because of publicity and it is this reality that people are wanting to see.”
