Delhi cricket team made a world record in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 match on Friday. Manipur batted first in the match and Ayush Badoni, Delhi captain used all of his 11 players to bowl at least an over. He himself, being a wicketkeeper in the match, bowled two overs and also claimed a wicket. This is the first instance when a team used all 11 players to bowl in a cricket match.
Baroda asked Tripura to bat first and restricted them to 109 runs in 20 overs. Akash Maharaj Singh took three wickets and captain Krunal Pandya took a couple of wickets. Star Indian batter Hardik Pandya played an unbeaten knock of 47 runs off 23 balls which included five 6s and three 4s. Baroda reached the target in the 12th over and gained four points.
Madhya Pradesh won by 6 wickets in a thrilling chase, successfully pursuing Bengal's total of 190. Bengal posted 189/9 in their 20 overs, with Shakir Gandhi top-scoring on 29 off 19 balls, supported by Sudip Gharami (6 off 7). At the 12-over mark, they were 109/2, and at 5 overs, they had 55/1, with Karan Lal contributing 22 from 13 balls and Gandhi adding 8 off 3.
Madhya Pradesh started their chase with 30/0 after 3 overs, needing 160 more to win. By the 11th over, they were 89/2, needing 101 more. They accelerated in the next few overs, reaching 156/2 after 16 overs and requiring just 34 runs to seal the victory.
Shardul Thakur’s day went from bad to worse as Kerala handed Mumbai a 43-run defeat in a Group E match of the SMAT T20. After being snubbed at the IPL auction, Shardul recorded the worst bowling figures in the history of the tournament, going for 69 runs in four overs. Although he picked up the early wicket of Sanju Samson (4), Shardul was taken to task, being hit for six sixes and five fours.
