Uttar Pradesh defeated Andhra in a tight preliminary quarter-final a few days back at the Chinnaswamy, while Delhi topped Group C and have clinched six out of their seven matches and are brimming with confidence.
Uttar Pradesh skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar has called it right at the all-important toss and has inserted Delhi to bat first.
Uttar Pradesh (Playing XI): Aryan Juyal(w), Karan Sharma, Priyam Garg, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Sameer Rizvi, Shivam Mavi, Vipraj Nigam, Bhuvneshwar Kumar(c), Mohsin Khan, Vineet Panwar
Delhi (Playing XI): Yash Dhull, Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni(c), Anuj Rawat(w), Himmat Singh, Mayank Rawat, Harsh Tyagi, Suyash Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Simarjeet Singh, Prince Yadav
A typical Bhuvneshwar Kumar start with the new ball. Not much width to work with for the batters and the Uttar Pradesh skipper has kept it tight and bowled a string on dots. Top start. For Delhi, it is Priyansh Arya and Yash Dhull who open the batting.
Both the Delhi batters look comfortable out there, while the UP bowlers have failed to pick up a wicket in the first four overs. While Yash Dhull has looked cautious, Arya has shown signs of intent.
A good start turns into a real good one for Delhi, having scored 49 from seven overs. The most important thing, they have all ten wickets intact, and have a platform to launch. Bhuvneshwar Kumar looks a slightly bothered man.
Priyansh Arya is on a roll now, Delhi are on a roll too. The platform is set for a fitting last 10-over finish. Can they capitalise on this brilliant start is the question. Arya has raced to 44, while Dhull is currently unbeaten on 36.
And Delhi have their first breakthrough, and it is a much, much needed one. Nitish Rana has struck in his second over and Priyansh Arya has to make the walk back for a well-made 44. Delhi, with nine overs left, have notched up 89.
Delhi have reached 112 for the loss of two wickets in 14 overs. With six overs to go, and eight wickets still in land, and with the surface favouring the batters, Delhi could well target 170 odd, and put pressure on the Uttar Pradesh chase.
Scintillating stuff from Anuj Rawat, and he's notched up a fifty in no-time. Looks like he is in some mood. Delhi are on the charge, and with three overs to go, they should believe they can get to 200. Some batting. Ayush, at the other end, have set the pace to partner Rawat perfectly.
And Delhi finish with 193 for the loss of three in 20 overs. They will be slightly disappointed with where they were, and how they finished, but in all, a fantastic total in a knockout game. Anuj Rawat top-scored with an unbeaten 73, while Priyansh Arya scored 44.
We are underway again with the chase, and Uttar Pradesh have already lost a wicket, with Ishant Sharma striking early. Aryan Juyal and Priyam Garg are out there in the middle, with some catching up to do. UP need 178 in 18 overs.
After a sedate start, Delhi have slowly started to stitch a good partnership as Priyam Garg and Aryan Juyal have started the rebuild. However, they will need to start pressing the pedal soon with the required run-rate going over 10.
Trouble, trouble, and more trouble for Uttar Pradesh. The chase looks in tatters now, with three wickets lost and the required run-rate skyrocketing. However, Rinku Singh has joined Priyam Garg and this could be crucial, crucial partnership. 134 from 72 needed.
And is that the game for Delhi? Rinku Singh has to make the long walk back, and he is utterly disappointed with the dismissal, while Prince Yadav is over the moon. Priyam Garg has been the lone warrior at the other end. UP need 113 from 10 overs.
Uttar Pradesh will need a miracle as Priyam Garg has been sent back to the pavilion. All hopes will now be pinned on Sameer Rizvi with the required run-rate jumping over 11. UP still need 81 from 42 balls with five wickets in hand.
Delhi have almost sealed a semi-final spot in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy unless there is a miracle out of nowhere for Uttar Pradesh, with 68 to get from 30 balls, with three wickets in hand. Prince Yadav is making all the headlines picking both Rinku and Rizvi.
Mohsin Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar look to take on the Delhi bowlers, but it is nowhere close to the required run-rate, and it is just delaying the inevitable now, with UP needing 41 from 12.
Delhi have defeated Uttar Pradesh by runs and have booked their spot in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy semi-final against Madhya Pradesh. Anuj Rawat was the clear difference between the sides as the former RCB man lit up the M Chinnaswamy with a brilliant unbeaten 73.
Mumbai Vs Baroda, SF 1
