ASI Seeks 15-Day Extension For Gyanvapi Mosque Survey Report Submission

The Archaeological Survey of India seeks a 15-day extension for submitting its report on the Gyanvapi mosque complex survey, a process spanning 100 days to determine the structure's historical roots.

In a recent development, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has formally sought a 15-day extension from the Varanasi District Court to submit its comprehensive report on the scientific survey conducted at the Gyanvapi mosque complex.

Amit Srivastava, representing the Centre, informed that the ASI has submitted an application to Varanasi District Judge A K Vishvesh, highlighting that although the survey work has been completed, the technical reports are still pending. Consequently, the additional time is being requested.

The court is slated to address this matter later in the day, as per Srivastava's statement. This follows the ASI's previous communication on November 2, wherein they apprised the court of the survey's completion but explained that additional time was needed to compile the report, including details regarding the equipment used in the survey.

Notably, an extension until November 17 had been granted on that occasion. It is noteworthy that on October 5, the court had initially allowed a four-week period for the ASI to conduct the survey, explicitly stating that no further extensions would be permitted beyond this timeframe.
