In the aftermath of the devastating triple train collision in Odisha's Balasore district, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar faces the challenge of identifying 52 unidentified bodies. To address the issue, DNA testing has been conducted on the 81 bodies at the hospital, with 29 samples confirmed and their respective relatives informed, according to Sulochna Das, the Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.

Das further explained that the process of handing over the bodies to their claimants is underway, with five already in progress. Additionally, the BMC has made arrangements for transporting the bodies to their native places as per the State Government's instructions. For those who opt not to take the bodies to their hometowns, the BMC has also organized cremation facilities at two locations in Bhubaneswar, according to media reports.

The tragic incident, which occurred on June 2 and involved the Coromandel Express, Shalimar Express, and a goods train, claimed the lives of 291 individuals, while more than 1,000 people sustained injuries.
