On legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary, R.K. Films, Film Heritage Foundation and NFDC-National Film Archive of India have organised special screenings of 10 iconic movies of 'The Greatest Showman' of Indian cinema.
The initiative is titled “Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman''.
On legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary, R.K. Films, Film Heritage Foundation and NFDC-National Film Archive of India have organised special screenings of 10 iconic movies of 'The Greatest Showman' of Indian cinema.
The initiative is titled “Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman.” It will take place at PVR-Inox and Cinepolis cinemas across 40 cities and 135 venues in India from December 13 to December 15, 2024. The movie tickets will cost just Rs 100 across all participating cinemas.
Raj Kapoor's son actor Randhir Kapoor said, “Raj Kapoor was not just a filmmaker; he was a visionary who shaped the emotional landscape of Indian cinema. His stories are more than just films; they are powerful, emotional journeys that connect generations of viewers. This festival is our humble tribute to the greatness of his vision.”

Our generation stands on the shoulders of a giant whose films captured the spirit of their time and gave a voice to the common man over decades. His timeless stories continue to inspire, and this festival is our way of honouring that magic and inviting everyone to experience his legacy on the big screen. See you at the movies," said his grandson Ranbir Kapoor.
The festival will have screenings of his films- Aag, Barsaat, Awaara, Shree 420, Jagte Raho, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
Raj Kapoor won the Padma Bhushan in 1971, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988 and several Filmfare Awards. His films Awaara and Boot Polish competed at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, and Jagte Raho bagged the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Raj Kapoor was born on December 14, 1924. He died in 1988 at the age of 63.
